Join the Drug Plastics family as our Maintenance Mechanic! This is an hourly, 1st shift position working Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. Perks of working at Drug Plastics? The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assuring the proper operation and performance of all equipment related to the efficient operation of the Boyertown Plant and accountable for the entire repair and service works of electrical units and other power equipment in the facility. Voluntarily disclose our environmental data through CDP's platform Reduced scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by over 90% since 2015 Committed to net-zero emissions by 2050 Major Areas of Responsibility Include Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and troubleshoot malfunctions. Detect malfunctions and defects in electrical systems and repairing the same. Maintain a record of service cycles and other maintenance activities conducted. Report damages, defects and other issues pertaining to electrical units to the supervisor. Specific Responsibilities Perform and document preventative maintenance on primary process and support equipment. Perform maintenance on production machine, floor scrubber, etc. Maintain chlorine solution and chlorinators. Change air conditioner filters. Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems. Monitor, troubleshoot and repair air compressors, chillers, chiller tank pumps and air dryers. Perform gearbox and cylinder repairs. Maintain stretch wrap machine in warehouse. Maintain carton conveying system on manufacturing floor. Conduct a weekly and monthly fire protection inspection, and maintain related equipment. Prepare for and install machinery and equipment. Perform building and ground maintenance. Maintain outside sprinkler system. Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner. Undertake personal responsibility to become, and remain fully qualified to perform all aspects of the position as outlined in the Job Competencies for the Position of Maintenance Mechanic. Follow safety guidelines, Company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Other duties and projects as assigned. Job Requirements Demonstrated strong skills in set-up and repair in the plastics industry strongly preferred. Broad theoretical knowledge and mechanical experience in hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical. Ability to utilize all electrical testing and repair equipment. Good mathematical skills to perform shop calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Strong command of the written language, to include technical manuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to include ability to write reports. Understand and effectively be able to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions and ensure appropriate courses of action are taken. Must provide own basic mechanic hand tools to perform the required job duties effectively and as assigned. Vision must be correctable to '20-20' to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings. Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment. Education and Experience 2 to 3 years of mechanical experience as a maintenance mechanic required. Industrial Maintenance degree or certificate, or similar education a plus.
