Job Description

A specialized nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in cardiovascular intensive care. This contract position requires strong critical thinking and hands-on proficiency in managing complex cardiac patients within an acute care setting. Key Qualifications and Experience: Current, active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses accepted) Minimum of 2 years ICU experience, preferably CVICU Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines Skilled in ventilator management and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS certified) Basic Life Support (BLS) certified NIH stroke scale certification required Preferred experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and Meditech electronic medical records system Location: This role is based in Cibolo, Texas, a vibrant city known for its family-friendly atmosphere and convenient access to the greater San Antonio metropolitan area. Cibolo offers a balance of suburban comfort with proximity to cultural attractions, parks, and shopping centers. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care to CVICU patients post-CABG, VAD implantations, and cardiac catheterization procedures involving advanced support devices like IABP, Impella, and ECMO Perform accurate and timely documentation within Meditech or designated platforms Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Adhere to hospital policies including dress code, attendance, and floating assignments as required Schedule: 12-hour shifts with rotating day and night coverage (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Scheduled over a 13 to 26-week assignment period Weekend rotation required No on-call duties Guaranteed 36 hours per week Professional Appearance and Conduct: Navy scrub tops and pants with navy or white scrub jackets Maintain clean, natural hair styles; visible tattoos and piercings are restricted in accordance with unit policies This contract assignment offers a unique chance to further develop clinical expertise in a well-established cardiovascular unit.
