In this role, you'll help monitor and troubleshoot network systems-including switching, wireless, firewalls, and connected security systems-ensuring reliable and secure connectivity across City departments. You'll respond to service requests, assist with equipment installation and maintenance, and support ongoing network performance and security monitoring. About the Position Provides day-to-day operational support, monitoring and maintenance of the City's network and related infrastructure systems. This position focuses on routine administration of network, wireless, security and connected systems, troubleshooting incidents, supporting customers and participating in on-call rotation. Position Functions Job Duties & Responsibilities Supports day-to-day network operations, including administration and monitoring of switching, wireless, firewall, and related infrastructure. Performs routine configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of network equipment such as switches, wireless access points, firewalls, cameras and access control systems. Monitors network performance, availability, and security alerts using centralized management, monitoring and SIEM tools. Receives, documents, and investigates incidents and service requests related to network systems; resolves issues or refers to appropriate staff when needed. Participates in installation, replacement and maintenance of network and structured cabling systems. Assist with preventive maintenance activities, documentation and inventory of network infrastructure. Follows established standards, procedures and security requirements for network operations. Performs related work as required. QualificationsRequired Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related field and Three to five years of experience supporting network or infrastructure systems, or An equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Good knowledge of networking concepts including switching, wireless, firewalls and TCP/IP. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population. Required Licenses or Certifications Required to obtain Iowa NCIC certification based on work assignment or complete the CJIS Security Awareness Acknowledgement Form. ITIL v4 Foundations Certification: Required or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
