Ability to function independently and under pressure while actively participating in a team environment. Detail-oriented with the capacity to effectively multitask. Competent in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection. Understanding of anatomy and pathology as they affect procedure quality. Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Responsible for providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients. Performs all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies. Independently performs a wide variety of technical procedures. Sets up equipment and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for each procedure. Obtains complete clinical history and gathers examination data. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures proper patient identification and appropriate use of markers. Reviews CT images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations effectively. Assists other technologists in all modalities as needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates the need for physician intervention. Maintains patient privacy and comfort throughout the exam. Demonstrates competence in applicable procedures based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities in designated time frames. Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with procedures. Demonstrates proficiency with power injection operations. Employs critical thinking skills and engages with patients and their families. Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders as necessary. Understands and executes the pre-procedural verification and Time Out process. Prepares the patient for procedures and demonstrates sterile technique. Maintains competency with venipuncture. Adjusts techniques to minimize patient radiation exposure while maintaining image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner. Cleans and maintains equipment as per infection control policies. Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to alleviate anxiety. Ensures patients' questions and concerns are addressed satisfactorily. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides preparatory instructions to patients about procedures. Ensures all required documentation is concise and adheres to precise terminology. Keeps supervisor informed on responsibilities and potential problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate consistent with co-workers. Capable of operating workstations associated with the CT department. Maintains compliance with all applicable standards and protocols. Takes calls when necessary and performs other duties as assigned.
