For more information about LGESVT, please visit Position Overview The Commissioning Manager will oversee the commissioning phase of multiple large-scale BESS projects, managing several commissioning teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality system startup and handover to customers. This strategic leadership role focuses on developing and executing commissioning strategies, optimizing processes, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement to meet project timelines, budgets, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Management • Lead, mentor, and manage multiple commissioning teams (including field engineers, technicians, and subcontractors) across concurrent utility-scale BESS projects. • Recruit, train, and develop commissioning personnel to maintain high standards of safety, technical expertise, and performance. • Foster a collaborative and safety-first culture within teams. • Strategic Planning & Execution • Develop and implement comprehensive commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules aligned with project contracts, timelines, and quality requirements. • Strategize resource allocation, sequencing of commissioning activities, and risk mitigation across multiple projects to optimize execution efficiency. • Oversee pre-commissioning, cold/hot commissioning, system integration testing, performance verification, and final acceptance testing (FAT/FIT). • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, project management, quality assurance) and external stakeholders (customers, EPC contractors, vendors, utilities) to ensure seamless transitions through commissioning phases. Technical Oversight • Ensure all BESS components (batteries, inverters, PCS, SCADA, EMS, fire suppression, and balance-of-system) are commissioned to meet design specifications, performance guarantees, and regulatory standards. • Troubleshoot complex technical issues during commissioning and implement corrective actions. • Review and approve commissioning documentation, test procedures, and reports. Safety, Quality & Compliance • Champion health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols on-site, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 855, and company standards. • Drive quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives for commissioning activities. • Manage change orders, deviations, and lessons learned to enhance future project execution. • Reporting & Stakeholder Management • Provide regular updates on commissioning progress, risks, and milestones to senior leadership and project stakeholders. Qualifications• Deep technical knowledge of BESS components, including lithium-ion batteries, power conversion systems, SCADA/EMS, and grid interconnection. • Strong understanding of commissioning processes (pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance verification, and handover). • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite. • Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, NFPA, IEC) and grid codes. Travel This role follows a hybrid model: ~20% onsite and ~80% remote based on project phase May require travel to field locations across the U.S. Must be comfortable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities across multiple sites
