They will often also help to manage or lessen the pain experienced by someone stricken with a degenerative condition or terminal disease. Physical Therapists help patients through a combination of physical activity, reflexology, massage, and muscular and skeletal manipulation. The PT collaborates with speech therapists and physical therapists to achieve the best outcomes for the patient. Responsibilities: Consult with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms and review their medical history and referrals from providers. Diagnose movement dysfunction by listening to patients and observing them as they move about. Develop an individualized treatment plan. Coach patients and teach them therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition. Use hands-on therapy such as massage, to ease patients' pain and provide stimulation to promote healing. Keep detailed records relating to patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress. Report progress and current status to appropriate parties. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: Education: Master's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program. Experience: Experience working directly with patients in a long term care or hospital setting. Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Current Physical Therapist state license, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Possess documentation skills, have excellent verbal communication, provide satisfactory patient services, be a team player.
