JOB SUMMARY The incumbent of this position serves as an Outpatient Forensic Competency Coordinator for the Department of Behavioral Health/Behavioral Health Authority. Responsible for providing clinical direction in planning, managing, and coordinating a comprehensive competency program that provides competency evaluations and restoration services for the courts located in the District of Columbia. Provides competency education on an individual and group basis to youth and adults requiring restoration services. Collaborates with other agencies such as; Court Social Services, the Public Defender's Office, the U.S. Attorney's Office, and Core Service Agencies to develop, coordinate and implement plans of awareness regarding competency services. Exercises leadership in reviewing and analyzing programs and making recommendation on changes in goals/objectives, development/allocation of resources, and services to be provided. Washington, DC 20002 QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have successfully completed a four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelors or higher degree which involved major study in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavior or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; or four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS : Incumbent must be credentialed, privileged, and possess a current, permanent, full and unrestricted D.C. license as a Qualified Practitioner includes psychiatrist, psychologist, LICSW, Advanced Practice RN, RN, or LPC. WORK EXPERIENCE: One (1) or more years of experience providing clinical direction in planning, managing, and coordinating a comprehensive competency program. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work in the office and in the community. May be required to perform competency restoration in the DC Jail or at a DYRS facility. Some degree of hazard is present in working with individuals who have a history of mental illness and involvement with the criminal justice system. The work environment may include travel to the DC Jail or DYRS facility in order to facilitate competency restoration groups. THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND PHYSICAL "JOBS FOR D.C. RESIDENTS AMENDMENT ACT OF 2007: A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment.
