Your work environment may include single or multi-family homes, assisted living, independent living, or memory care facilities. SLPs play a critical role in evaluating and treating a range of conditions, including language impairments, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, cognitive communication challenges, voice disorders, and alternative communication needs. You will often work with patients recovering from strokes or those battling progressive diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
