Job Description The Purchasing & Storeroom Manager is responsible for the financial receipt and management of materials for Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations (MRO), while leading storeroom operations to ensure safe, compliant, and organized availability of materials for production and maintenance. This role works to work in efficient purchasing/receiving processes while optimizing inventory and procurement in a chemical plant environment. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-focused, and experienced with industrial manufacturing purchasing/accounting practices, and reliability-centered storeroom management. Key Responsibilities:Procurement (Receiving) Assist in developing and executing sourcing and receiving strategies for MRO supplies (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, PPE). Help manage invoice/receipt process and non-conformances while assisting in cost reduction and value engineering initiatives. Storeroom & Inventory Management Own plant storeroom operations for MRO and consumables (receiving, put-away, binning, issuing, cycle counts, kitting, etc.) Implement inventory control methods Assist with developing accurate item masters (part numbers, specs, MSDS/SDS references, critical spares designation, lead times). Establish critical spares strategy with Maintenance and Operations Drive storeroom layout, labeling, barcoding, and 5S; ensure secure, segregated storage for hazardous/flammable materials per NFPA/OSHA. Systems, Data & Process Improvement Maintain purchasing transactions in ERP system Assist with requisitioning, purchasing, receiving, and handling procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience. 5+ years in purchasing within manufacturing; 2+ years in a chemical or heavy industrial environment preferred. Hands-on storeroom and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations management experience Familiar with hazardous materials and industrial equipment. Proficiency and flexibility with ERP systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills Physical & Work Environment Requirements Hybrid office and plant environment work setting Regularly walk production areas and storeroom; lift up to 50 lbs with proper technique. Chemical manufacturing production and maintenance environment. Schedule & Travel Full-time, on-site; typical weekday schedule with occasional off-hours support for urgent maintenance or deliveries.
