Power BI Developer

Job Title: Power BI Developer Location: Iselin, NJ (Hybrid - 2 to 3 days onsite per week) Long Term Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that enable data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building dashboards, data models, and reports using Power BI, with strong knowledge of SQL and data visualization best practices. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports using Power BI. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical requirements. Design data models optimized for performance and scalability. Write complex DAX expressions and calculations to meet business metrics. Integrate Power BI reports with data sources (SQL Server, Excel, cloud-based systems, etc.). Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in all reporting outputs. Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting of Power BI solutions. Publish and schedule Power BI reports and dashboards using Power BI Service. Provide documentation and training to end users and stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in Power BI development. Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling concepts. Proficient in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle). Experience with Power BI Service: workspace management, dataset refreshes, security roles. Understanding of ETL processes and integration with various data sources. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Skills: Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SSIS, or SSAS. Familiarity with finance/business domain reporting (e.g., P&L, KPIs, risk dashboards). Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies. Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS) implementation. Power BI certification (e.g., PL-300) is a plus. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field. Master's degree or certifications in BI tools or data platforms is a plus.
