Salary: $17.74 - $20.54 Hourly Location : La Verne, CA Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 26-12 Department: Parks & Recreation Part-Time Opening Date: 03/02/2026 Closing Date: 3/19/2026 5:00 PM Pacific Description Lifeguard - Parks & Recreation Part -time Seasonal EmployeePAY RATE: $17.74 - $20.54 Hourly Up to 28 hours per week - Monday through Sunday between the hours of 6:30 AM - 8:00 PM FILING DEADLINE: 5:00 PM - Thursday, March 19, 2026 American Red Cross CPR/AED/Basic First Aid Certificate and Advanced Lifesaving (Lifeguarding) Certificate The City of La Verne seeks part-time Lifeguards to work up to 28 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, between the hours of 6:30 AM - 8:00 PM during the summer 2026 season at the La Verne Aquatics Center at Las Flores Park. Duties include but are not limited to: Observe pool users and ensure compliance with all rules and regulations, remove participants from dangerous and/or life-threatening situations, administer basic first aid, if necessary, perform routine pool and building maintenance as required, provide information to participants and members of the public, perform other related work as required. Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age and possess the following: advanced swimming ability, ability to interact effectively with aquatics participants, supervisors, and other employees, MUST have reliable transportation, and MUST be willing and able to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and July 4. Applicants whose qualifications most closely match the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process, which will include the following: EXAMINATION WEIGHT Application Screening Qualifying Appraisal Interview 100% Background Investigation Qualifying Candidates who receive a passing score at the appraisal interview will be placed on an eligibility list.
