Company: enGen Position Overview: Join our vibrant team at enGen as a Mid-Level Database Administrator. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our on-premises SQL Server environments. We're looking for a dedicated individual excited to enhance their expertise across various database platforms, including Google Cloud SQL, Postgres, and MySQL on Linux. You will manage routine tasks independently, troubleshoot database issues, and work collaboratively with application teams and vendors to create solutions. Key Responsibilities: Database Management: Oversee daily operations and performance tuning of SQL Server databases, including monitoring, capacity planning, and query optimization for optimal performance. Installation & Configuration: Handle the installation, configuration, and patch management for SQL Server environments while managing SQL Server Agent jobs effectively. Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and accessibility. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Maintain existing HA/DR solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups) and assist in their implementation to ensure service continuity. Security Management: Manage SQL Server security measures, including logins, users, and permissions, while ensuring adherence to security policies. Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve database issues, provide support to application teams, and play an integral role in incident resolution. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for database systems and associated processes to facilitate knowledge sharing. Essential Duties: Create and review database designs, ensuring compliance with standards for data modeling and maintenance practices. Provide support for internal staff regarding application and DBMS technology inquiries. Conduct thorough root cause analysis for issues impacting database availability, coordinating with vendor support when necessary. Be available for after-hours support for database refreshes, technology upgrades, and other critical assignments. Assist in establishing technical standards and offer training for application developers on best practices. Participate in projects related to database management and keep abreast of industry trends. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED. 1-3 years of experience in Information Technology. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 3-5+ years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration. Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is advantageous. Scripting skills in T-SQL, Python, and/or PowerShell are a plus. Experience with SolarWinds DPA for performance monitoring is desirable. Familiarity with the following is a bonus: Cloud SQL on Google Cloud Platform, Postgres or AlloyDB databases, and MySQL on Linux. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and Terraform. Knowledge of Linux OS and AI tools such as Copilot and Sidekick. SQL Server Certifications. Travel Requirement: 0% - 25% Physical and Mental Demands: This is an office-based position with occasional requirements for after-hours support and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Compensation: The pay range for this position is $57,700 to $107,800, depending on qualifications and experience.
