By collaborating with outstanding colleagues and upholding high standards, you will help us achieve our vision.Please be aware that while many roles at Coinbase offer remote work options, this position does require some in-person attendance throughout the year to foster collaboration and teamwork.As the Engineering Manager of the Payments team within the Consumer Product Group, your role will be pivotal in enhancing user experiences around cryptocurrency payments, including sending and receiving transactions.Your team will aim to transform the Coinbase retail app into the fastest and easiest platform for users to access crypto. In 2023, our goal is to become the leading self-custody wallet, as measured by Monthly Active Users (MAUs) and download share, recognizing that wallets represent the future of web3 and blockchain at Coinbase. Our product offering includes the Coinbase app, advanced trading features, decentralized applications (dApps), and staking opportunities.Key Responsibilities: Build and lead dynamic full-stack engineering teams focused on developing features, services, and infrastructure for web and mobile platforms.Mentor and coach team members to promote their professional growth and positive contributions within the organization.Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to transform our vision into actionable roadmaps, simplifying complex projects into manageable phases for iterative design and execution.Act as a knowledgeable technical authority, guiding architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and exceptional engineering practices. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery and operation of scalable, multi-tenant systems.Work closely with the talent acquisition team to create an inclusive environment for exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's values.Oversee processes that enhance engineering quality and ensure adherence to our engineering Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Qualifications: Proven experience in peer-to-peer payments.Strong familiarity with cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.A minimum of 7 years in software engineering roles.At least 2 years of engineering management experience within consumer product environments.Deep understanding of quality code and effective software engineering processes, with a commitment to fostering these principles.A results-driven mindset with the ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and drive outcomes.A balance of strategic vision and tactical execution skills.Experience in developing, delivering, and managing multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.Hands-on skills when necessary, including writing/reviewing code and troubleshooting engineering issues.A genuine passion for creating an open financial system that connects people globally. Preferred Qualifications: Background with crypto-focused activities, including experience with onchain transactions, Ethereum addresses, and engagement with dApps or blockchain services.
