Only individuals authorized to work in the U.S. will be considered.Job Title: Senior Application Security & Modernization Engineer Job Type: Full-Time/ContractThis role is a 12-month assignment. Job Salary: $57.60-$61.71/hourdependent on experience Job Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs/week Job Location: Houston, TX 77002 Project and Requirements The visitor access application is a widely used system that enables regular courthouse visitors to apply for badges, allowing for faster entry while generating considerable revenue for the department. However, the application is currently outdated and carries significant technical debt. The objective of this project is to modernize the application, eliminate technical debt, enhance security, and improve user experience and usability. Scheduled Milestones and Deliverables Participate in the Agile development process managed by the department, contributing to the backlog of prioritized development items. Deliver tested, deployable code at the conclusion of each Agile Sprint. Provide timely resolution of assigned support tickets, ensuring quality assurance (QA) review and acceptance. Deliver integration services as agreed upon by the development team, typically within a one- to two-week timeframe for new data queries or service integrations. Metrics to Measure Performance Customer satisfaction and timely delivery of business requirements. Number of service requests resolved or initiated. Number of work items (tasks, bugs, and user stories) completed. Feedback gathered from team members regarding collaboration and quality of deliverables. Requirements Role and Responsibilities of the Resource Request Design and develop the visitor access application to meet defined business requirements. Analyze business requirements and collaborate with the development team to translate them into technical specifications. Design, code, test, and debug application components. Mentor junior team members and ensure adherence to established software quality standards. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for features, integrations, and system design. Research and evaluate potential technology solutions to align with business and security requirements. Education Requirements Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field or equivalent practical experience (5+ years) in software development and application modernization. Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant discipline or advanced coursework in software architecture, cybersecurity, or human-computer interaction. Certifications: Strongly preferred certifications include CISSP, CSSLP, or cloud certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer / Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer / DevOps Engineer.
