You will work across various Amazon businesses, including Annapurna Labs, S3, EC2, and other critical infrastructure teams, although our research efforts extend beyond these domains. Our teams dedicate themselves to advancing distributed systems and high-performance computing, developing solutions that revolutionize data processing and understanding. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with senior researchers to design and implement impactful distributed computing solutions. Prototype novel architectures that enhance performance and system reliability. Conduct advanced research on scalable, fault-tolerant systems suitable for data centers and serverless environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in distributed systems, network architecture, or high-performance computing, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed algorithms, scalable network protocols, or parallel computing frameworks. You should thrive in interdisciplinary teams, merging knowledge from software engineering, data science, and hardware architecture to develop innovative cloud computing solutions. A Day in the Life: Your internship will immerse you in advanced computational research, collaborating with leading scientists and engineers to tackle computational challenges. Engage in hands-on projects that will push your technical skills and ignite your creativity. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Enrolled in a PhD program. 18 years of age or older. Available to work a minimum of 40 hours/week for up to 12 weeks. Willing to relocate to the internship location. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, C, or C++. Publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals. The starting pay for this position is as follows: USA, CA, Cupertino - $171,600.00 - $222,200.00 USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle - $142,800.00 - $193,200.00 USD annually. Final starting pay will depend on your experience, qualifications, and location.
