Family / Internal Medicine Medical Director - Cherokee, NC Relocation Assistance Available Salary: $220,000 - $240,000+ Base + Outstanding Benefits Job Summary Our client is seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician to serve as Medical Director for a newly constructed, 120-bed skilled nursing facility located in Cherokee, North Carolina. This role combines hands-on clinical care with leadership responsibilities, overseeing medical services for residents within the facility. The position focuses on delivering high-quality post-acute and geriatric care while collaborating with facility leadership to maintain strong clinical standards and patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide medical care for adult and geriatric residents in a skilled nursing facility setting. Examine, diagnose, and treat patients while developing and adjusting individualized care plans. Interpret diagnostic tests and communicate treatment plans with staff, residents, and families. Provide clinical oversight and leadership for the facility's medical operations. Collaborate with nursing leadership and administrative staff to ensure quality patient care. Maintain documentation required for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing. Participate in regulatory surveys and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Completion of an approved residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Board certified or board eligible (must become board certified within one year). Ability to obtain North Carolina medical license within six months of hire. BLS certification required. Geriatric experience preferred. Certified Medical Director (CMD) certification preferred or willingness to obtain within two years.
