POSITION SUMMARY The individual in this position will provide leadership for and coordination of university financial records and budget management functions. They will assist with the management of the day-to-day operations of the USF Business Office and ensure University accounting procedures are followed and conform to generally accepted accounting principles. The individual in this position is a lead member of the Business Office team and reports directly to the Vice President for Business & Finance. MAJOR FUNCTIONSDirect and coordinate University financial records and budget management functions Manage daily operations of the Business Office. Support the annual budget process in cooperation with the VP for Business & Finance. Direct and/or complete the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including the Statement of Financial Position, the Statement of Activities, and the Statement of Cash Flows. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget. Direct the annual financial audit Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies Oversee endowment and scholarship accounting with the assistance of Business Office staff. This shall include, but is not limited to: maintaining the endowment register; calculating annual endowment appropriations; accounting for Endowment Transfers; calculating annual draw-downs; and accounting for internal "Endowment" loans In the area of cash and treasury management, responsible for liquidity management (including transfers of cash and investments if necessary) as well as assessments concerning appropriate accounts, payment and deposit systems, and other modes of credit. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Implement improved financial and budget processes for the Business Office and the University of Sioux Falls to allow more efficient and effective budget and financial operations, processes, and procedures. Comply with all USF policies and regulations, and also with outside agencies' policies and regulations, including but not limited to Title IX, NCAA, NSIC, Department of Education, Clery Act, FERPA, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Justice. Assist with management of the Business Office staff, working cooperatively with the VP for Business & Finance within the USF system. Other responsibilities as assigned, consistent with the position. QUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. CPA required Five years or more of experience in a mid-level finance or accounting position Higher Education or non-profit experience preferred Understanding of and commitment to the Christian mission of the University of Sioux Falls. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal and state financial regulations Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems - knowledge of Jenzabar Administrative Software. Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams and work individually to accurately produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group and individual meetings with staff of varied backgrounds and experience. Strong time-management skills. Ability to successfully pass the required background check for the University. The ability to perform all duties associated with the position, including, but not limited to, lifting up to 25 pounds, prolonged standing, sitting, and operating or performing work with a computer.
