Summary: The Geospatial Data Specialist is essential in gathering, processing, analyzing, and interpreting geospatial and remote sensing data. You will operate drones for data collection and travel to diverse project sites, contributing to valuable remote sensing and survey data for various energy projects such as wind, solar, transmission, and energy storage. Collaborate closely with experienced Geomatics professionals as you engage in survey tasks, cartography, data manipulation, geographic information analysis, and database management. Be ready for fieldwork that may require extended stays at project sites (typically 1-3 weeks). This role operates in a hybrid environment, with a minimum of three days in the office weekly. Key Responsibilities: Utilize drones for lidar and photogrammetric data collection. Gather additional field data, including surveyed ground points. Efficiently process and analyze photogrammetric and lidar data. Compile spatial data from various internal teams. Utilize geographic data from census, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, ALTA surveys, and engineering documents. Effectively manage and prepare metadata. Ensure quality assurance and control on all data products. Support ongoing projects by providing requested information. Perform surface comparisons and quantity calculations under guidance. Assist survey staff with necessary support files. Participate in data collection activities in varying weather conditions, requiring physical capability for extended walking over uneven terrain. Operate a company vehicle for site and surveying visits, navigating between locations during the day and at night as needed. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct. Additional Responsibilities: Lead by example with a strong focus on safety and quality. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor's degree in UAV/drone science, remote sensing, geographic information systems, cartographic science, or geodetics is preferred. Possession of an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License (or Canadian equivalent) is required, or the ability to obtain within six months. At least one year of experience in drone-based data collection is preferred. One year of experience in data processing or GIS/CAD software usage is preferred. One year of traditional field survey experience is preferred. Willingness and ability to travel 51 to 75% domestically and internationally is required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Familiarity with GIS/CAD software such as ArcGIS, Global Mapper, and AutoCAD. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with DJI flight planning software is advantageous. Knowledge in remotely-sensed data processing and analytics is a plus. Field experience, particularly in drone-based data collection. Exceptional attention to detail is critical. Ability to work and learn independently with minimal supervision. Professional interaction with clients, vendors, team members, and supervisors. Experience with survey equipment, particularly Trimble GPS, is preferred. Experience using lidar scanners is a plus. Possess functional competencies such as collaboration, agility, and integrity. Compensation: Anticipated base salary range: $23.46 - $31.25 per hour. Compensation will be based on your education, qualifications, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for bonuses.
