The City of Hampton is seeking a dynamic Production Manager to oversee show load-in through load-out at the Hampton Coliseum or American Theatre. This role is perfect for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys collaborating with promoters, production teams, and venue staff to deliver exceptional events. What You'll Do: Advance shows and coordinate technical specifications with promoters and production teams Supervise stagehands and production crews during load-in, performance, and load-out Prepare event expense estimates and ensure cost-effective operations Coordinate with internal divisions to ensure venue readiness Operate and maintain sound, lighting, stage, and event production equipment Ensure compliance with safety standards, fire codes, and public safety regulations Support senior leadership in executing high-quality events Minimum Requirements High school diploma or successful completion of GED required. Requires a minimum of four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience working with venues and show production. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must successfully pass a background check and other tests related to the class. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Additional Requirements Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety and fire code precautions applicable to event production in an arena and/or performing arts theatre. A current State of Virginia Journeyman Electrician License is preferred. Demonstrable knowledge of the theatre fly system operation when assigned to the American Theatre. Maintains harmonious working relationships in addition to working independently. Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments under time constraints. Requires working non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
