On behalf of the Kaizen Foundation of North Carolina, I am excited to extend an invitation for you to consider joining our Board of Directors. We are currently seeking passionate, committed individuals to fill open seats on our nine-member board as we continue to build a financially empowered and resilient community. Our Vision The Kaizen Foundation of NC envisions a financially empowered community where individuals have equitable access to the knowledge, tools, and support needed to make informed financial decisions. We aim to be a leading resource in advancing financial literacy, fostering economic resilience, and promoting generational wealth across North Carolina and beyond. Our Mission & Commitment Since our founding in August 2021, we have been driven by a mission to serve through education, support, and access. We invite board members who share in this vision and are committed to helping us deepen our impact. Who We Seek to Serve We focus on those who may understand finances but may not have the resources to build upon that understanding to clearly impact their everyday lives How We Seek to Serve By establishing strong relationships and partnerships with existing nonprofit organizations in Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Stanly and Union counties. How We Deliver Services (Cost Sharing Model) Financial Literacy Classes Only Classes + 1:1 Financial Counseling Individual Financial Counseling Board service includes: Attending the annual board meeting each November Participating in monthly board meetings (held every 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 PM, alternating between Zoom and in-person) Making an annual out-of-pocket financial contribution of $1200 Supporting fundraising efforts and participating in events Attending at least one class per session Actively recruiting volunteers, community supporters and donors Serving on at least one committee (Recruitment | Fundraising | Volunteer)subject to change Committing to a minimum term of 2 years 3 Primary Legal Duties Duty of Care: Take care of Kaizen by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facilities, people and good will. Duty of Loyalty: Ensure Kaizens activities and transactions are advancing the mission. Disclose conflicts of interest. Make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization. Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the organization obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its bylaws, and adheres to its stated purposes/mission.
