Experience with anticoagulation and cardioplegia is critical. Candidates must understand flow rates and hypothermic circulatory arrest. Ability to manage power failure and perform equipment set-up is essential. Temperature management and ultrafiltration experience is required. Weaning and resumption of natural circulation is important. Experience in extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is necessary.
