Position Summary The Assistant Dean of Administration (ADA) reports to the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering and serves as a trusted advisor, strategic partner, and operational coordinator. The ADA supports but does not substitute for the decision-making by the Dean, ensuring the Dean is equipped with accurate data, clear options, and well-organized materials to support informed leadership actions. The ADA is largely focused on internal operations; coordinates and reports on projects; demonstrates leadership that translates ideas into operational follow-through and may represent COSE in professional and community settings. The role requires exceptional leadership, discretion, communication, and organizational skills. The ADA is a 12-month, exempt staff position. Job Responsibilities Gather and interpret data, to coordinate and implement proposals and initiatives to further the goals of the college. Manage special projects and respond to time-sensitive issues on behalf of the Dean. Act as a liaison between the Dean and senior leadership, faculty, staff, students, and external partners. Evaluates college programs or functions, policies and procedures; identifies issues and develops alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies, and procedures. Actively analyzes, researches, and gathers information from appropriate campus and university leadership and/or offices for Dean's briefings. Briefs the Dean on projects, meetings, and appearances. Serves as a member of the College of Science and Engineering Leadership Team and in doing so, works closely with the Dean and other senior administrators to support institutional responsibilities. Collaborate with the COSE Strategic Plan team to drive the execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring effective tracking of milestones and deliverables. Serve on campus committees as assigned Perform other duties as assigned by Dean (or designate) Qualifications Bachelor's degree required (prior experience in STEM preferred) Graduate degree preferred Prior experience in higher education preferred A minimum of five years of professional experience required Solid organization, management, administrative, problem-solving and human relations skills; must possess a style which exhibits maturity, leadership, sensitivity, teamwork and diplomacy. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
