Job Description

Located in Azusa, CA, this onsite contract opportunity is ideal for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) specializing in AAC assessment within a K-12 school setting. This position focuses on providing a one-time evaluation for a student with moderate to severe communication needs who currently uses an AAC device but experiences frequent device malfunctions. Key responsibilities include: Conducting comprehensive AAC assessments with expertise in Keyguard customization Evaluating the student's current AAC device usage and communication abilities Collaborating with the school team to determine whether a lower technology AAC device may better support the student's communication needs Presenting clear, evidence-based recommendations regarding AAC device options and justifying any suggested device changes Preferred qualifications and experience: Certified Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP-CCC) Experience working with pediatric populations in school or healthcare settings Strong background in AAC assessment, including teletherapy familiarity Skilled in customization and troubleshooting of AAC devices, particularly Keyguard adjustments Completed Clinical Fellowship Year (SLP-CFY) or equivalent experience Previous exposure to school-based speech therapy caseloads, especially with students requiring extensive AAC support This is a Contract role for the current school year, providing an impactful opportunity to assist a student with significant communication challenges. The successful candidate will be a decisive AAC assessor able to advocate effectively for appropriate, functional communication solutions.
