Required Education A Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, or an equivalent degree in allied health, along with preparation for ASCP/AMT certification. Certification Requirements ASCP or AMT Board of Certification in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) is to be obtained within the first year of employment. It is necessary to maintain current certification throughout your employment.
