The role assures that all supplies and equipment are available and in working condition. The assistant also aids the surgeon in patient care in the operating room by providing exposure, aiding in hemostasis, closure, and other technical functions that facilitate safe operations with optimal results for patients. ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques related to specific procedures. Ensures all necessary supplies, equipment, or instruments are available and charged appropriately by confirming with the nurse and surgical technologist. Assists the physician with proper positioning, draping, retracting, suctioning, sponging, tissue handling, cautery techniques, stapling devices, and suturing as directed. Assists team members in the transportation, positioning, and total care of patients. Schedule This is a 12-hour afternoon shift from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM, with on-call requirements of 1-2 nights per week and every fourth weekend. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure5+ years of Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) experience - Required Prior travel assignment history - Preferred Active certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) - Required Active American Heart Association BLS certification - Required 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years - Required Skills checklist current to 1 year pertinent to the specialty (Certified Surgical First Assist) - Required Why ARMStaffing?
