As a Claims Specialist within our Complex Claims Unit, you will manage a diverse caseload of high-complexity construction defect and related property damage claims, navigating both primary and excess coverage issues. Your expertise will be crucial in resolving complex fact patterns and analyzing contracts to ascertain indemnity and contribution obligations. Key Responsibilities: Manage a portfolio of litigated and non-litigated construction defect claims under commercial general liability policies. Conduct thorough investigations and evaluations of claims-related information. Determine coverage applicability and communicate findings effectively to insureds and related parties. Establish and adjust indemnity and expense reserves within prescribed levels, presenting any significant adjustments to management. Develop strategies to achieve optimal resolution outcomes for claims. Oversee litigation processes, working closely with defense counsel on planning, budgeting, and bill reviews. Participate in trials and mediations as needed. Contribute to broader team and organizational goals through involvement in audits, projects, and product initiatives. Prepare detailed reports and present updates on case developments, industry trends, and policy issues to senior leadership. Collaborate with business partners to evaluate and address emerging claims trends. Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries from agents and policyholders. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree is preferred; a law degree would be advantageous. A minimum of seven years' experience handling complex litigated construction defect and property damage claims. Familiarity with controlled insurance policies and wrap policies is an asset. Strong analytical skills and organizational abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven strategic thinking and execution capabilities. Negotiation expertise with advanced technical claims handling knowledge. Comprehensive understanding of damages issues related to high-value construction defect claims. Ability to effectively analyze coverage and liability issues while managing time-sensitive demands. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade effectively. This role offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work arrangements. Candidates residing near office locations such as Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Phoenix, AZ; Naperville, IL; or Alpharetta, GA are expected to work in-office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote candidates will work primarily from home with occasional visits to the office as business needs arise. Compensation: The base pay range for this position is between $107,600 and $161,400, reflecting the external market analysis for similar roles. Actual salary may vary based on individual performance and demonstrated competencies. This compensation package also includes additional rewards such as bonuses and incentives.
