Forward Air offers excellent compensation and benefits packages to our employees, as well as tremendous growth opportunities for top performers.Position: Operations (Inbound) SupervisorAvailable Schedule: Saturday through Wednesday, 3:00 AM - 1:00 PMCompensation:  $70,304.00 annually Job Description:Forward Air is looking for a capable and dedicated individual to work as an Operations Supervisor. The qualified candidate will coordinate all activities of dockworkers, drivers and other support personnel. The Operations Supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. In addition, the supervisor will provide dockworker and driver training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary. Previous experience with cargo operations is plus.Core Responsibilities & Duties:Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for dock operationsDirectly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading and unloading trucks and trailersAssign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedulesProvide guidance to subordinates on goals and objectives on a weekly basisMaintain appropriate load plansEnsure proper maintenance of facility, forklift equipment, trailers and handling suppliesExecute appropriate load plans and proper load balance to ensure safe vehicle operationCoordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job dutiesMaintain facility appearance, condition and securityPerform facility inspectionsAssist in the loading and unloading of trailersOther duties as assignedQualifications:Must have management experience (5-7 years preferred), in a high-volume, fast distribution environmentBachelor's degree or higher in Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering preferredPrevious route planning experienceStrong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environmentAbility to drive performance of direct reports and lead a team in a lean manufacturing environmentPrior air freight experience is requiredInternational/Import experience is a plusMust possess demonstrated leadership abilityKnowledge of proper freight handling techniquesAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of operationsMust be flexible to work weekends and nightsForklift and general freight handling experienceKnowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulationsExperience with a contingent workforce during peak seasonsMust be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) poundsMust be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to ninety (90) poundsSkills:Ideal candidate will possess a can do attitude with a will do work ethicMust have the ability to work in a fast paced environmentHave strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressureAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of operationsStrong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environmentGeneral computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, AS400Excellent communication and problem solving skillsForward Air is an Equal Opportunity employer.Since 1990, Forward Air has been a leading provider of ground transportation and related logistics services to the North American air freight and expedited LTL market.
