Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary :Founded in 1991, Friends of Recovery is dedicated to supporting men and women in recovery from alcohol and drug misuse through transitional housing and supportive services to aid in their recovery. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting individuals in recovery through mentoring, education, and case management.JOB TITLE: Outreach CoordinatorEMPLOYER: Friends of Recovery Association (FORA)LOCATION: Shawnee County and Wyandotte CountyREPORTS TO: Executive DirectorPOSITION TYPE: Full - TimeEFFECTIVE DATE: 02/01/2026SUMMARY: The FORA Outreach Coordinator for Shawnee and Wyandotte Counties is a full-time position responsible for building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with Kansas Oxford Houses, community partners, referral sources, specialty courts and recovery-support stakeholders across Shawnee County and Wyandotte County, Kansas. This role plays a critical part in supporting FORA’s mission by ensuring consistent communication, collaboration, and support for Kansas Oxford Houses and individuals in recovery.This position will work closely with Kansas Oxford House Members, Chapters, State Association, and Service Providers to promote recovery housing stability, connect those in recovery to resources and represent FORA within the community.WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION REQUIREMENTS: Regular local travel required between Oxford Houses and community partner locations in Shawnee and Wyandotte Counties. 3 days a week working in-office at FORA Headquarters in Overland Park, KS2 days a week working in-office at FORA Satellite office in Topeka, KSMonthly staff meetings on Teams; Weekly Corporate staff meeting in Overland Park, KS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: OUTREACH & RELATIONSHIP BULDING WITH KANSAS OXFORD HOUSE Serve as the primary point of contact for Oxford Houses in Shawnee County and Wyandotte County Build and maintain strong working relationships with Kansas Oxford House Members, Chapter Officers, and State Association.Attend and actively participate in Oxford House chapter meetings and related recovery events for perspective areas.Attend Oxford House meeting when invited to provide support, guidance, replication and resource connections.Conduct New Member Presentations for Kansas Oxford House Members.Conduct Oxford House Chapter and House Officer Training for Kansas Oxford House Members.Conduct any other required and/or requested training for Kansas Oxford House Members. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIPS Develop and maintain partnerships with treatment centers, specialty courts, corrections, probations/parole, hospitals, and other recovery support groups. Represent FORA at community meetings and education events, recovery events, and other outreach activities.Educate community partners with FORA services, Kansas Oxford House, and recovery housing best practices. SUPPORT AND COORDINATION Assist Kansas Oxford House Members with accessing resources, problem solving, and navigating challenges in collaboration with Kansas Oxford House state and chapter leadership Support communication between Kansas Oxford House and FORA regarding policies, expectations, and available resources/supportProvide support for the development and opening of new Kansas Oxford Houses, including attending new house meetings and offering guidance during the initial startup period. DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, chapter meetings and house meetings Submit regular chapter meeting reports, outreach efforts, outcomes, and recommendations to administrative staffTrack engagement across houses, chapters, and counties to ensure consistent supportRespond to outreach inquiries and requests from houses and community partners in a timely manner, within one business day (24 hours) when possible. COLLABORATION AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Work collaboratively with FORA Admin staff and other Outreach Coordinators Support FORA initiatives, grants and programsCoordinate and participate in recovery community events, presentations, and volunteer outreach activities as assigned.Assist with special projects and events when assigned by the Executive Director and/or administrative staff QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED Lived experience in recovery for at least 2 years or strong professional experience working in recovery, behavioral health, or social services Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Oxford House modelEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build trust and rapport with diverse populationsSelf-motivated, focused, positive attitude, flexible, and demonstrates initiativeStrong organizational skills and time management skillsReliable transportation and ability to travelProficiency with basic skills in Office 365High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Standard work week is 40 hours. There may be critical time constraints that create the need for a flexible schedule during certain time periods, including occasional evenings and weekends.
