SUMMARY The Special Events Coordinator will assist in the creation and service of special events, promotions, theme parties, etc., that target high value players (or VIPs) and the masses. The goals are to increase VIPs frequency and length of play, create an experience for the guests and stimulate all guests to use their Player's Club Cards for tracking purposes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Create Special Events from conception to completion as directed by the Marketing Team and using information supplied by Analysis, employees and guests Event pro-forma creation and completion Host and execute promotions/special events Manage event budget Assist with Marketing campaigns to include broadcast, print, direct mail, web site, in house package (dining, lodging), timeline and coordination of event Assist radio and television stations during live remotes of promotional events Coordinate with the graphics department to create effective internal advertisements Coordinate with vendors for support of events (Banner shops, sign shops, golf courses, prize and promo companies, etc.) Write direct mail copy Telemarketing when necessary Assist Analysis with pre and post event pro-forma (analysis) Order and communicate needs for decoration and other support Coordinate food and beverage Communicate Supply adequate information for each event to all performers Fact Sheet creation, distribution and communication to performers Attend department meetings to discuss upcoming Special Events Winner information to Publicist, Web site, Guest Relations and Winner's Gallery in casinos Assist in purchase and creation of promotional packages and giveaway items Coordinate and assist celebrity appearances for special events Monitor customer flow for planning purposes Compile competitive reports Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations. Other related duties assigned by Marketing Director and/or Special Events Manager OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have excellent customer service and communication skills both verbal and written. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations and time. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. Experience in customer service, speaking in front of a large group and event planning is preferred. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and/or Casino Marketplace preferred. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma, a GED or equivalent experience. Preferred candidate will have college education focusing on Marketing or Marketing related services. Experience in coordinating Special Events, knowledge of Publicity, Broadcast Media and or party planning preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Communication of events to Managers, Supervisors and frontline performers Manage Special Events DRIVING REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid, Michigan driver's license and be insurable by the Tribe. EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Desktop computer, programs such as word, excel, and access, fax machine, multi line telephone and other general equipment. Casino Marketplace and data warehouse experience preferred. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion. Must be able to drive a car. TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines, handle more than one task at a time and feel comfortable speaking in front of a large group of people. WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud, and smoky environment on occasion. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and evenings, weekends and/or holidays dependent upon special event calendar. Must be able to adapt to working in a typical office setting, on the casino floor or outdoor Special Events. Will be required to travel between properties. May require travel/overnight travel for training purposes. COMMENTS Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
