Position Overview We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve safety operations across the Etico companies. This is a leadership role responsible for administering, managing, and enforcing safety programs to ensure full compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position is primarily administrative and office-based, with periodic jobsite visits. The Safety Manager exercises independent judgment, supervises safety personnel, and has full authority to stop work when unsafe conditions or imminent hazards are identified. This role works closely with ownership and senior leadership and is ideal for someone who can lead with authority while building a strong safety culture across multiple divisions. What You'll Do Lead & Manage Safety Programs Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies and procedures Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations Maintain OSHA 300, 300A, and required compliance logs Develop site-specific safety plans, hazard assessments, and emergency response procedures Track and analyze safety metrics and incident trends Maintain accurate safety training records and documentation Build & Reinforce Safety Culture Lead new hire safety orientation programs Coordinate and conduct ongoing safety training and toolbox talks Educate employees on hazard recognition, PPE requirements, and safe work practices Lead Safety Committee meetings and initiatives Support safety recognition and award programs Incident Investigation & Risk Management Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions Maintain accurate incident reporting Coordinate with HR and insurance partners on workers' compensation, auto, and general liability claims Monitor return-to-work programs and injured employee recovery Jobsite Safety Oversight Conduct periodic jobsite inspections and audits Identify hazards and require corrective action Provide safety coaching and guidance to field leaders Develop and communicate emergency response and mitigation plans Driver & Fleet Safety Compliance Verify driver licensing and qualifications Maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQF) Track medical cards and annual MVR reviews Ensure DOT clearinghouse awareness and non-CDL DOT compliance Conduct driver safety evaluations and training Exercise Stop-Work Authority Immediately stop or suspend work when imminent danger exists Require corrective actions before work resumes Remove employees from hazardous conditions when necessary Enforce company safety policies and regulatory requirements Recommend disciplinary action related to safety violations Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of Safety Department personnel Assign tasks and monitor performance Ensure consistent safety program implementation across all jobsites Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training Provide input on performance evaluations and employment decisions Exercise functional authority over all employees regarding safety compliance What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of construction safety experience preferred Working knowledge of OSHA regulations OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification First Aid & CPR Certification Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to exercise independent judgment Preferred Qualifications OSHA 500 Construction Outreach Trainer (or ability to obtain within 6 months) First Aid/CPR/AED Train-the-Trainer certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months) Experience managing workers' compensation and insurance claims Experience with safety management software Bilingual (English/Spanish) Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position is primarily office-based with periodic jobsite visits. The role requires the ability to: Sit for extended periods Operate computers and office equipment Walk on uneven terrain during jobsite visits Occasionally climb stairs or ladders Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds Operate a motor vehicle Field exposure may include outdoor weather conditions, active construction zones, noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
