Job Description

OverviewWe are looking for an Electrical Designer / Electrical Engineer to take a leading role in developing industrial control panels, electrical assemblies, and supporting documentation for complex systems. This person will collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and build teams to ensure electrical designs are accurate, well-communicated, and smoothly implemented. The position is primarily focused on electrical design and cross-functional coordination, with occasional hands-on involvement during panel builds or prototype bring-up.Core Responsibilities1. Electrical Design & Documentation Develop electrical designs for control panels, distributed I/O enclosures, PLC-connected components, and AC power systems (including 480V distribution). Generate and revise schematics, wiring drawings, harness layouts, and panel/assembly documentation. Work extensively in AutoCAD Electrical, with opportunities to support the team's shift to SolidWorks Electrical later in the year. Deliver complete, accurate drawing packages that enable technicians to execute builds effectively. Subsystem Ownership & Cross-Team Collaboration Begin by managing a small set of electrical subsystems, adding more scope as familiarity with the project increases. Track and implement electrical changes resulting from updates in the mechanical design. Maintain consistent communication with: Mechanical engineering for design alignment Manufacturing teams as production activities increase Electrical technicians assembling prototypes and final units Keep all associated documentation up to date throughout design iterations. Limited Hands-On Build Support (10-20%) Provide support during panel assembly or prototype integration when needed (primary build work handled by a dedicated technician). Participate in prototype testing and debug activities to help validate electrical functionality. BOM & Workflow Systems Use Excel to manage bills of materials and project documentation. Contribute to internal efforts related to the upcoming transition from AutoCAD Electrical to SolidWorks Electrical. Maintain strong drafting precision and adherence to electrical drawing standards. PLC Interface Knowledge Understand the basics of PLC systems, including I/O structure, wiring standards, and how components connect logically. (Optional) Ability to assist with PLC logic development-though programming is primarily done by a separate controls group. Work experience in prototyping, R&D environments, or fast-moving engineering teams. Familiarity with micro-connector or ribbon cable systems (future project applications). Previous involvement with BOM creation and configuration.
