Position Type: Administration/Special Education Supervisor - Act 93 Date Posted: 12/5/2025 Location: Spring Grove Area School District Date Available: Upon Board Approval Closing Date: Until filled PURPOSE: To assist with the Director of Pupil Services to develop and monitor the special education and gifted education programs for the district students. This role is responsible for overseeing compliance with state and federal regulations, guiding instructional practices, and fostering collaboration among educators, administrators, and families. By providing leadership in program development, staff training, and individualized student support, the Supervisor drives academic and social-emotional success for all students while maintaining a relentless focus on outcomes and continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONSTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Evidence of successful experience as a special education teacher with a minimum of five years' experience Valid Special Education Supervisory or Administrative certificate Valid Special Education teaching certificate (preferred) Master's degree in special education (preferred) Experience with students with autism (preferred) On-line learning experience (preferred) Documented academic success of students receiving special education services Strong leadership skills Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team Strong knowledge of intervention strategies Strong command of Pennsylvania academic standards Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong analytical writing skills. Receipt of current, favorable clearances including Pennsylvania State Criminal History (Act 34), Federal Criminal History (FBI - Fingerprinting - Act 114), Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Act 151), and Sexual Misconduct and Abuse Disclosures (Act 168). REPORTABILITY Reports to Director of Pupil Services EVALUATION Performance evaluated annually by Director of Pupil Services PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in the pre-referral process upon request. Function as a member of the support team by conducting periodic child staffing, recommending teacher strategies, supporting instructional staff in specific problem-solving situations, and facilitating integration/mainstreaming procedures. Visit and observe the operation of all Special Education classrooms on a regular basis to ascertain needs. Complete formal observation of special education teachers as assigned. Assist with yearly evaluation of Special Education Para-Educators and Personal Care Assistants. Recommend classroom techniques to Special Education teachers and general classroom teachers working with students who have special needs or are at-risk. Assist teachers and administrators in selecting, coordinating, and obtaining appropriate teaching materials along with assisting teachers in using the curriculum developed for the program. Assist in the review and revision of IEPs, GIEPs, and MDEs as needed. Provide support to itinerant staff as needed. Administer the coordination of all special education and gifted education activities including timelines, student placements, multi-disciplinary team evaluations, and all other documentation. Coordinate and monitor students with IEPs engaged in on-line learning to ensure free, appropriate public education (FAPE). Facilitate and coordinate transitional services with community agencies for students with an IEP. Facilitate involvement of interagency coordination and collaboration with students and families. Provide consultative services to the school district as requested and/or determine appropriate personnel to provide these services. Identify in-service needs and make recommendations to the Director of Pupil Services. Coordinate and / or conduct professional development, in-service sessions, and department meetings for special / general education staff. Coordinate and / or conduct professional development for paraprofessional staff that will count toward their State mandated training hours. Coordinate and / or conduct professional development for administrators, professionals, and support staff on educational topics. Coordinate and / or conduct parent/guardian educational programming related to contemporary topics of special education and gifted education. Assist Special Education Staff, Supervisors, and Director of Pupil Services in gathering data to facilitate District or Intermediate Unit programs (e.g., number of students graduating, recommendations to OVR and/or MHIDD, extended school year, etc.). Assist in the selection and deployment of special education and gifted education departments. Assist in developing special education departmental goals. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the special education curriculum in coordination with assessment strategies. Work collaboratively with the Director of Pupil Services and the special education department to develop the budgets for district-operated special education programs. Assist with programming of students in special education to meet their individual needs. Coordinate and maintain all special education student rosters (caseload) for district operated classes and inform Director of Pupil Services of non-compliance issues. Coordinate para-educators' daily schedules for those within the special education department. Maintain the files for all students in special education, including those students in special education programs outside of the school district. Work cooperatively and collaborate with other special education supervisors in neighboring districts to ensure Spring Grove has a cohesive and coordinated delivery of special education services. Facilitate support services for students from neighboring districts being educated within the Spring Grove Area School District. Assist in the placement of students in special education who move into the district. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with District Administration to monitor and adjust the continuation of educational placements available for district students. Complete any other duties as assigned by Director of Pupil Services.
