This IT Application Developer, Senior position is on the OCIO FIN/REV Team, and will serve the development, maintenance, and enhancement of COBOL computer applications and Billing systems supporting the OCIO and external agencies. This position will lead other team members on medium to complex support and development initiatives in support of critical line-of-business systems. The position will work closely with other team members to write, debug, test, and document programs. Apply to join our team today! Job Duties: This person will work with other developers to maintain complex systems while consulting with agencies and OCIO teams on development projects. They will participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and production support. This person will also be working with less experienced developers to train them on tools and techniques that are used by the team. This person will be required to be on call off-hours to assist with issues that may arise outside of normal work hours. This person will need an understanding of how data is passed between web applications and mainframe applications, and issues that could arise in those communications. This person will be working on multiple projects at once and will need to have the ability to prioritize projects to meet project goals. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Cobol, JCL, VSAM and DB2, Compuware Topaz Workbench, Python, Azure Cloud, previous experience with rebilling processes. Strong analytical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot errors. Ability to mentor teammates. Candidate will possess regular and reliable attendance as well as excellent time management skills. Be able to provide on call support outside of 8-5 business hours.
