Responsible and authority for the direction of the LPN, RN, BSN, and Nursing Assistant programs and regulations as governed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) and supports the Bachelor of Science: Nursing Community College Collaborative (BSNCCC). The Dean of Nursing reports to the Executive Dean of CTE to help manage the nursing department operations, including personnel hiring, performance management, budgetary and curricular functions. Strong focus on exploring and improving teaching and learning, assessing student learning outcomes, improving curricular offerings, retaining students, cultural fluency, and developing staff. Provide leadership in departmental planning and academic affairs with a strong focus on equitable practices. Serve on appropriate college, community, and statewide councils, committees, and task forces. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Administration for the Nursing Program Coordinates and ensures Nursing Programs and Nursing Assistant program adherence to the Oregon State Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations Leads and coordinates program and College accreditation. Functions as lead for maintaining the Nursing Program's status with National Accreditation Leads coordinating efforts to launch the RN-BSN program, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Science: Nursing Community College Collaborative (BSNCCC). Maintains relationships with RN-BSN programs with whom the Chemeketa nursing program has consortium agreements and with other RN-BSN programs Responsible for the administration of the Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs including leadership within the Nursing/Nursing Assistant faculty for development, implementation, and evaluation of the program including curriculum and instructional delivery Supervises full-time and part-time faculty in the Nursing/Nursing Assistant programs Coordination and support of faculty assignments within the Nursing/Nursing Assistant programs. Coordinate administrative functions of the Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs, such as performance appraisals, work plan completion, etc. Counsel and advice personnel on performance related issues Liaison with executive administrators and student service units of the college Oversee coordination of clinical sites and maintain ongoing relationships with community partners, nurse educators, nurse educator associates and clinical teaching associates to ensure utilization of clinical sites Oversee coordination of the preparation of the Nursing and Nursing Assistant schedule of classes and responsible for final proofing of quarterly and year-long class schedules. Monitor classroom assignments, course and revised course information to Academic Affairs Participation in institutional policy and program decisions that affect the Nursing/Nursing Assistant Programs Oversee preparation and monitoring of budgets for the Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs. Prepare and track budget reports, purchase orders, payroll and expense reports in collaboration with CTE Executive Dean Promote Nursing/Nursing Assistant Programs Leadership Provides leadership for the Nursing/Nursing Assistant program; mentors and assists the Nursing department chair(s) and Nursing Assistant program lead instructor(s). Serves as liaison between Chemeketa Community College and the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) Provides leadership in and contributes to the college's mission by fostering an environment of inclusive education between students, faculty, staff, and the public who represent a variety of cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. Aligns instructional culture with principles and practices of equitable and inclusive teaching and learning Lead the Nursing/Nursing assistant departments in institutional effectiveness processes, including program review, the assessment of student and program outcomes, and accreditation reporting as appropriate Provide support for Nursing/Nursing Assistant departments in developing student recruitment, transition, and retention practices. Process student complaints, student dismissals, and follow student's rights and responsibility guidelines Assist with the management of sources of revenue including general fund budgets, grants, and self-support accounts, and monitor and control budgets in accordance with college, state and federal guidelines Provides leadership and coordination in partnership with the Nursing department chair and Nursing Assistant program lead instructor(s) for program review and revision of Nursing curriculum, department policies, and procedures Provide leadership in the work with faculty and staff on institutional goals with regard to equity, inclusion, diversity, nondiscrimination, disability accommodations, accessibility and universal design. Work with faculty to develop effectiveness, process assessment, and opportunities for continued learning and improvements with regard to these external mandates and internal goals Work closely with stakeholders to build relationships, develop policy, and coordinate joint projects that provide a mutual benefit for both the Nursing/Nursing Assistant departments, Allied Health department, and other divisions at Chemeketa Effectively manage conflict between employees, students, and other staff with empathy.
