Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting is a licensed nursing professional who provides direct, hands-on care to patients with complex, chronic, or medically fragile conditions requiring extended hospitalization. LVNs assist with medication administration, wound care, tube feedings, tracheostomy care, and routine monitoring of vital signs under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. They closely observe patient conditions, promptly report changes, and support daily care needs to promote comfort, safety, and stability. Working collaboratively with registered nurses, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, LVNs play an essential role in maintaining continuity of care and supporting patient recovery in a high-acuity, long-term care environment.
