RRT in Chesapeake, VA

Exceptional Registered Respiratory Therapist opportunity available in Chesapeake, VA at a 150-bed hospital with a busy Emergency Department, ICU, stepdown, and medical-surgical floors. This contract role offers a 12-hour PM shift schedule every other weekend and holiday, designed to provide rewarding clinical experience in a supportive environment. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities: Provide both invasive and non-invasive respiratory care under general supervision. Evaluate cardiopulmonary function and treat related impairments. Assess treatment effectiveness and deliver care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations (no neonatal or pediatric assignments for this role). Perform procedures such as ABGs and emergency airway management including intubation if qualified. Operate various ventilators and manage patients in critical care settings including ICU and ED. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 2 years registered experience as a Respiratory Therapist; additional years preferred. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; certification to achieve RRT within 90 days of hire accepted. Must hold current state respiratory care license. Current BLS, ACLS, and RRT required. Demonstrated critical care and emergency airway management experience. Epic electronic medical record experience required. Intubation and arterial blood gases (ABGs) competency highly preferred. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) not required for this position; no Dysrhythmia experience needed.
