A surgical technician role is available in Greeley, CO, offering an excellent opportunity on a contract basis to support surgical procedures in a busy operating room setting. This position involves selecting and placing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery, while ensuring adherence to strict sterile techniques and surgeon preferences. Key Responsibilities: Prepare for surgical cases by selecting appropriate instruments and supplies, verifying their condition, and reviewing case carts. Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and operating equipment. Maintain aseptic technique and universal precautions, including proper disposal of sharps and participation in surgical counts. Assist with operating room turnover between cases, including cleaning and restocking supplies. Ensure accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists. Support administrative tasks as assigned within the department. Follow all safety protocols, including infection control, specimen handling, and emergency procedures. Qualifications and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory. Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or a minimum of two years of operating room experience is preferred. Manual dexterity, strong organizational skills, and ability to remain composed in high-pressure environments are essential. State-specific certification or registration may be required depending on region. Working Environment: This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds as needed. Effective communication skills and the ability to use computer and office equipment periodically are important. The work environment involves direct patient care with exposure to blood and body fluids, requiring adherence to standard precautions.
