Lead HVAC Service Technician

Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a Lead HVAC Service Technician in Durham, NC to provide advanced technical service and mentor technicians while managing service activities at commercial accounts. Impact Ensure maximum uptime for key commercial accounts through expert diagnostics and proactive maintenance Build customer loyalty by delivering professional service and technical solutions that exceed expectations Develop technician skills through hands-on training and mentoring in the field Drive service efficiency by coordinating work activities and optimizing service delivery processes Responsibilities Lead service activities at assigned commercial accounts including preventive maintenance and repairs Diagnose and repair complex HVAC system issues on chillers, boilers, and building controls Mentor and train junior technicians on proper service procedures and troubleshooting methods Coordinate with service management on scheduling, parts procurement, and customer communication Conduct equipment inspections and provide recommendations for repairs and upgrades Program and troubleshoot building automation systems and DDC controls Respond to emergency service calls and resolve critical equipment failures Complete accurate service documentation and maintain detailed maintenance records Requirements Must-Haves 8+ years of commercial HVAC service experience with progression to lead role EPA Universal Certification required Strong knowledge of chillers, boilers, air handlers, and building controls Proven leadership skills and ability to mentor less experienced technicians Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Valid driver's license with clean driving record Nice-to-Haves Manufacturer certifications for major HVAC equipment brands BAS/controls programming experience with Trane, Carrier, or Johnson Controls platforms NATE certification or other technical credentials Compensation & Logistics Competitive salary depending on experience; benefits include health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, company vehicle, and performance bonuses.
