Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown position, requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent stepdown or PCU experience. Job Details • Work in a hospital Stepdown/PCU setting caring for post-surgical, bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma patients, • Night shift schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week from 18:45 to 07:15, • Eight weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule, including a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts, • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities, • Care for patients requiring complex pain management, wound vac changes, and management of surgical drains and tubes, Job Requirements • Active MO or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration, • Minimum of 2 years recent stepdown/PCU or MS/Tele experience required, with at least one year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year, • Certifications required: BLS and NIHSS, • Demonstrable skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response/code teams, feeding tube care, CBI, PICC line management, IV maintenance, epidural analgesia, PCA, surgical drain and chest tube management, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care, • Two professional references required, at least one from a supervisor or above within the past year, • Pending licenses may be accepted, Additional Information • Responsibilities include care of patients with complex surgical and medical needs such as those with necrotizing soft tissue infections and serial debridements, • Patients commonly require postoperative pain control via epidural, PCA, ketamine drip, or lidocaine infusion, • Must manage a variety of surgical drains, tubes, catheters, and wound vacs, • No on-call requirements, • No block scheduling available, • RTO is restricted to no more than 7 days, • Position does not accept first-time travelers, • Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted, • No travel partners accepted for this assignment, • Pre-employment drug screening must be clear; candidates with diluted or positive results not cleared by MRO will not be eligible for rehire for 6 months, • Annual and pre-start training modules are required
