Position Type: Administration/Assistant Principal Date Posted: 2/6/2026 Location: Middle School TITLE:MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AND ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY: The Middle School Assistant Principal and Activities Director provides support and assistance in the instructional leadership, personnel management, and operations to the Middle School Principal to ensure a safe, welcoming, and effective learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid Missouri Principal Certification or eligibility for certification Pass the required background screening check. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Board Policy for Staff Conduct REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Activities Director Facilitate effective communication, collaboration and scheduling of all middle school athletic and student organizations and club activity events, in collaboration with the coaches, district's Event Coordinator, Middle School Principal and Administration.. Secure game officials, competition judges, gate and concession workers for scheduled events. Assign, supervise, and evaluate coaches, sponsors, and directors. Collaborate with the Principal and Finance and Operations department on development of budget, purchasing, inventory, and equipment bidding processes for all sports and activities. Initiates requisitions for the issuance of checks for officials, supervisory personnel, transportation and entry fees. Coordinate and supervise night and weekend middle school activities, and assist in maintaining student discipline in collaboration with building administrative staff. Ensure compliance with MSHSAA guidelines, including student eligibility, physicals, insurance, and consent forms. Coordinate transportation for all MSHSAA activities and manage logistics for team travel. Work with the district facilities supervisor to maintain safe and functional athletic and activity facilities. When applicable secure athletic trainers and emergency medical services for events Review athletic schedules to ensure equity, appropriateness, and balance for student participants. Collaborate with the High School Athletic & Activities Director to align programs and provide continuity across grade levels. Develop coaches' handbook, athletic code, and related documents. Instructional Leadership: Assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of curriculum as directed by the principal. Provide orientation, training, and professional development for coaches and activity sponsors in collaboration with the M.S. Principal and H.S. Activities Director. Assist the principal in the overall administration of the Middle School. Assist in the managing of standard testing programs Assist in the in-service orientation and training of new staff members. Culture and Climate: Foster school and community pride through effective communication, events, and public relations. Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate. Promote and support student participation in all extracurricular programs. Assist in maintaining high staff morale, a shared vision and promotion of a culture of collaboration and innovation. Personnel & Operations: Assist with the daily supervision of the Middle School's maintenance, transportation, custodial, food services, health services, and any other support services as directed by the principal. Assume responsibilities for day-to-day operations, including discipline, scheduling, issuance or refusal of passes to those students wishing to leave the building while school is in session and excuse pre-arranged absences. Assume the responsibility for holding follow-up parent conferences to resolve discipline, attendance or other related school issues. Assist the principal in monitoring student attendance and investigate follow-up actions as needed. Assist in the development of rules and regulations necessary for the successful operation of the school with the help of the principal, teachers, counselors, and students. The rules and regulations shall be placed in the Middle School Student Handbook. Be responsible for the operation of the Middle School during the absence of the principal. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, community members, and the Board of Education to support student success. Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Middle School Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Physical Demands: Requires mobility across athletic and activity venues and the ability to supervise in various environments. Work involves irregular and extended hours, including evenings and weekends. The work environment is typically consistent with a standard school office setting. However, the position also requires routine outdoor duties, which may involve exposure to a wide range of weather conditions. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.
