A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer to join their team in the McLean, Virginia area. Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain internal developer platforms (IDPs) that standardize and simplify development workflows (e.g., Backstage, Cortex) Integrate and champion AI-powered developer tools, including AI-assisted code generation, intelligent code review, and automated documentation Evaluate and integrate emerging AI development tools and APIs into engineering workflows Establish and promote best practices for Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, local development environments, and cloud-native deployments Reduce developer cognitive load by abstracting infrastructure complexity and enabling self-service capabilities Drive self-service solutions that allow engineers to provision, test, and deploy safely and autonomously Optimize feedback loops with product teams to enable rapid iteration and higher-quality releases Measure and improve developer productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE) and use insights to drive continuous improvement Lead developer education and enablement initiatives, including demos, presentations, and feature certifications. Evaluate and implement security, compliance, and observability best practices in developer toolchains Ensure secure, responsible use of AI tooling aligned with organizational AI governance Perform other duties, as needed Qualifications: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years in platform engineering, DevEx, or DevOps roles Deep experience with cloud-native development (Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Kubernetes) and CI/CD. Strong expertise integrating and using AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI APIs, AI-based testing) Solid understanding of software delivery metrics (DORA, SPACE) and improvement methodologies Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Go, Python, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform) Experience building and operating developer platforms or DX functions and influencing technical direction Extensive Azure experience, including Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, Azure NoSQL, APIs, Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Storage, and Log Analytics Working knowledge of observability and logging platforms (Elastic/ELK, Logz.io, Splunk) Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, YAML) Experience configuring cloud monitoring and telemetry (Azure Application Insights, Log Analytics/KQL) Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, EMR) and cloud data migration Desired Skills: Experience supporting multi-team engineering environments with a focus on developer enablement Familiarity with Team Topologies and cognitive load reduction strategies Hands-on experience integrating observability and monitoring into developer-facing platforms Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices Knowledge of secure software supply chain practices (SBOMs, artifact signing) Experience with BI tools and dashboards (Tableau, Business Objects) Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
