Position: Electrical Engineer (Controls)Location: Anderson, SCEmployment Type: Full-TimeWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a manufacturing facility. The Controls Engineer specifies, designs, implements, and maintains complex control systems and software programming on production equipment and associated machinery while training and assisting technicians in solving complex problems.Primary Responsibilities Observe OSHA and safety rules and always use proper safety equipment. Identify potentially dangerous electrical hazards and take immediate corrective action. Demonstrate advanced National Electrical Code understanding by teaching others. Develop safety procedures for installed machines, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out for operations and maintenance personnel. Lead and support internal engineering, maintenance, production teams, OEMs, vendors, and contractors to design, install, interface, and start up new equipment and process controls. This includes electrical component selection and approval, electrical design approval, software assessments and modifications, machine acceptance testing, and problem identification and resolution. Assist production, maintenance, and engineering teams to meet daily priorities, coverage needs, and special projects. Specify power distribution systems, drives, motors, DCS, PLC, HMI, servo systems, instrumentation, and data collection/analysis software based on established controls standards. Evaluate electrical equipment from multiple sources and recommend best value. Perform high-level troubleshooting and critical thinking to solve electrical, mechanical, or process problems. Lead and assist others in troubleshooting machinery, equipment, components, and programs including power distribution, drives, motors, DCS, PLC, HMI, servo systems, and robotics. Proactively identify opportunities to increase production performance. Initiate, lead, and oversee improvement projects through completion. Assess, design, and make complex program modifications in DCS, PLC, HMI, and servo controller logic to improve equipment and overall system performance. Provide technical and operational training to controls teams, production personnel, warehouse teams, and other staff as needed. Share knowledge and coordinate training to enhance troubleshooting skills. Provide direction and assistance as necessary for off-shift or after-hours support. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of industrial controls experience with advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation. Advanced knowledge of power distribution, grounding, medium voltage drives, coordinated drives, AC motors, bonding, DCS, PLC, HMI, robotics, and servo systems. Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Experience with system management including backup, archiving, and restoring. Experience with industrial control networks (OT networks), including setup, security, and troubleshooting. Proven ability to lead complex electrical and controls engineering projects ($50k–$500k+). Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing, computer skills, reasoning, and mathematical abilities. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team environment. Safety-oriented mindset with the desire to enforce and follow safety and environmental policies and procedures. Proficiency with CMMS, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and scheduling software.
