Join Jacobs as we strive to improve our world through innovative water and wastewater projects. As a Preconstruction Manager, you will play a key role in the success of these initiatives, driving accurate estimates for a range of complex projects including water, wastewater, environmental, and military facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in reviewing proposals, conceptual designs, and detailed documents. By participating in design meetings and site visits, you'll help to clearly define the project's scope, enabling us to understand its cost implications effectively. As a mentor within our collaborative team, you will develop project work breakdown structures, execute scope of work take-offs, and prepare statements of work for subcontractors and vendors. You will apply construction methods to ensure efficient project execution and calculate indirect field and owner costs to enhance our project foresight. Collaboration is key! Your work with design teams will ensure we have the quality and quantity of input needed for precise design build construction estimates. Utilizing your creative and analytical skills, you'll generate insightful reports and presentations, as well as analyze historical data to inform future project decisions. We are seeking detail-oriented candidates with a strong construction background who are ready to take on the challenges of water and wastewater projects. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required, alongside extensive relevant experience. Proficiency in various technologies including estimating, scheduling, and database software is essential. Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, Timberline, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, and SQL-based databases will be beneficial. A solid understanding of estimating structures and processes is necessary, including knowledge in quantity takeoff, crew development, and risk models. Experience in quantitative risk analysis using software tools is a must, with a preference for Deltek Acumen for schedule and cost analyses. Familiarity with industry software like Timberline and HCSS Heavy Bid, along with Primavera P6 for project scheduling, is advantageous. A strong history of mentoring junior staff will be highly valued. This role may include travel based on project requirements, though general travel will be infrequent. We would also appreciate the following skills and attributes: Exceptional written, oral, and presentation abilities. A proactive approach in client interactions, especially regarding scope, schedule, and budget discussions. The ability to build strong relationships and effectively resolve conflicts. Independence in handling responsibilities while remaining open to guidance. An extensive background in water and wastewater construction, supported by valuable field experience. The capability to meet the physical and environmental demands of the position, including standing, walking, and adapting to variable conditions typical in the water and wastewater design build industry.
