American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/16/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a highly experienced RN for a Float Pool (Nursing Resource Team) position requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience across ER, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health settings. Responsibilities Hospital-based Nursing Resource Team (NRT), a hospital-wide float pool department Float coverage spans ER, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health (Adult Acute, Youth Acute, Addiction Recovery) units Unit bed counts range from 21-35 beds depending on the assigned unit Patient ratios vary by unit: ICU 1:1-2, PCU 1:3-4, Med/Surg and ED-boarded Med/Surg 1:5-6, and Behavioral Health 1:5-6 days / 1:10 overnights Cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation are performed in this role Equipment includes restraint boards and patient lifts 12-hour shifts available on both day (0700-1930) and night (1900-0730) rotations Schedule is determined by unit needs; mid-shift floating may be required Every other weekend required Responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care across a wide variety of units and patient populations Must demonstrate strong time management skills and adaptability when working with diverse interdisciplinary teams across multiple units Certifications and training completed during general onboarding include: Restraint C, MOAB 8-hour class, Boundaries 1-hour module, restraint board training, and lift training Navy blue scrubs required Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Holiday coverage is expected as part of this role Requirements Active RN license in Idaho or a Compact state currently in hand Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required Minimum of 3 years of experience across all of the following areas (experience may be concurrent): ER, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health/Psych (adult acute, youth acute, addiction recovery) Experience with cardiac drips required Experience with non-invasive ventilation required Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program (BSN highly preferred) Department of Health & Welfare Background Fingerprinting required due to Behavioral Health float responsibilities 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the position's specialty within the last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-674526.
