Job Summary Location: Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District Primarily Downieville Junior/Senior High School The primary purpose of the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) -Academic & Online Learning Support & College and Career Readiness position is to provide on-site academic support for middle school and high school students enrolled in online coursework, as well as college and career readiness support for students and families of the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District, primarily at Downieville Junior/Senior High School. This is an in-person, on-campus position. While the role supports students participating in online courses, the employee is required to be physically present at the assigned school site and work directly with students and staff. This is not a remote or work-from-home position. Under the general supervision of the Superintendent or designee, the TOSA - Online Learning Support & College and Career Readiness provides direct, in-person support and progress monitoring for students who are enrolled in online courses as part of their on-campus course schedule, helping expand students' academic and career opportunities. This Teacher on Special Assignment works closely with site principals, counselors, and advisors to support students participating in online coursework and dual enrollment opportunities. The position also provides information and guidance to students and families regarding college applications, financial aid processes, vocational training pathways, and career preparation. In addition, the TOSA coordinates and facilitates post-high school informational events and workshops, helping to build and sustain a college-going and career-ready culture for students across the district.
