Job Description

Join our team as an Assistant Category Manager to support the development of category goals and strategies that resonate with our core customers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a diverse mix of national brands, local products, and private label offerings that set Whole Foods Market apart from competitors. This position is essential for driving business financial performance, utilizing data-driven approaches to make customer-centric decisions on assortment selection, product development, pricing, presentation, and promotions. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the development, analysis, and execution of merchandising, promotional, and pricing strategies. Support category assortment planning, collaborating with suppliers and stakeholders for item planning and forecasting. Help translate assortment plans into actionable merchandising strategies, ensuring successful project execution. Coordinate logistics for key events, including supplier line reviews and sampling activities. Maintain supplier contacts and assist with communications, including meeting notes and recaps. Keep systems updated and assist with documentation and reporting. Foster information sharing among stakeholders to align on category objectives. Support testing and analysis initiatives as directed. Contribute to category resets and revisions processes, promotional support, and data management. Conduct and assist with data analysis and reporting. Potentially lead the creation of category insights and strategy presentations. Help manage new product development projects through all lifecycle stages. Take on additional duties as assigned to support team efforts. Desired Skills: Detail-oriented with strong planning and execution abilities. Collaborative team player with a positive attitude. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Familiar with retail software and category management principles. Strong analytical skills to interpret financial reports and business trends. Excellent communication skills, tailoring messages to meet diverse audience needs. A passion for organics, fair trade, and quality standards in the natural foods industry. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year experience in account management, project management, or buying. Proficient in Excel and analytical tools. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with software and editing tools, including HTML, Excel, and SQL. Background in online retail. Familiarity with analytical tools such as Google Analytics.
