What We Offer You as a Diesel Technician: Starting salary ranges from $28-$30.00 per hour, based on your experience. Consistent hours to ensure financial security for you and your family. Your shift will be from 1 PM to 9:30 PM. No weekend work required. We are committed to providing stable hours to promote your work-life balance and financial security. This role is based primarily in our repair and maintenance shop at the West Sunbury, PA hauling site. Daily Responsibilities: As a Diesel Technician at WM, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers across the U.S. Experience the pride of knowing your hard work supports your local community. You will have the opportunity to further your skills by repairing advanced equipment and utilizing modern tools and techniques for exceptional maintenance on diesel vehicles and, in some instances, our fleet of CNG trucks. Inspect and diagnose issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems across a variety of vehicles and equipment. Estimate repair times and material costs for vehicle repairs and parts. Perform work in alignment with our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs). Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns. Conduct safety checks on vehicles, prioritizing the safety of employees and our communities. Document necessary paperwork, including parts usage and repair times. Assist senior Mechanics with project work as needed. Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must be over 18 years of age. Legally eligible to work in the United States. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodations. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination. Work Environment and Physical Demands: This role necessitates physical exertion, including but not limited to frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing. You will be frequently on your feet, walking, and grasping, with occasional sitting and balancing. You will be exposed to potential occupational hazards such as cuts and burns, and may work in environments with noise, adverse weather conditions, and various odors. Work may occur indoors in garages or shops, as well as outside in conditions that include rain or extreme heat.
