Job Description

Summary: Join our innovative team as a Research Engineer focused on developing cutting-edge compiler tools for advanced deep learning hardware tailored for AR/VR systems. As part of a dynamic group of experts in compilers, machine learning, firmware, and ASIC design, you will help create a new compiler to transform PyTorch models into optimized binaries for specialized hardware accelerators. Your work will emphasize essential graph-level optimizations, such as memory planning and graph partitioning, to effectively deploy models across various edge devices. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to the creation of machine learning libraries, intermediate representations, export formats, and analytical tools. Design and implement advanced compiler passes and optimizations utilizing PyTorch's intermediate representations. Analyze our toolchains for efficiency, scalability, and stability, ensuring adaptability for new applications. Make contributions that are broadly applicable across the Reality Labs product range. Collaborate with other compiler-focused teams to assess and integrate their innovations, engaging directly with the PyTorch and ExecuTorch teams. Lead design and code reviews, assessing code performance, debugging, and resolving cross-system issues collaboratively. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 4+ years of experience in developing compilers or code optimization software. Strong software design skills and proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ for development, debugging, and performance assessment. Experience in AI framework development or hardware acceleration of models. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a team environment. Familiarity with mainstream machine learning frameworks, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field. Experience with machine-code generation or compiler back-ends. Background in contributing to an active compiler toolchain codebase, including LLVM, MLIR, GCC, MSVC, or Glow. Experience in model co-design for custom silicon targets. Hands-on experience with ExecuTorch (or TFLM/LiteRT) for model deployment, or contributions to existing delegates. Publications as a first author in peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL) are a plus. Compensation: $88.46/hour to $257,000/year plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Industry: Internet Equal Opportunity: We are proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We do not discriminate based on any legally protected characteristics. Our commitment includes accommodating candidates with disabilities in our recruitment process.
