On-Call Remote Sensing Specialist

ESA is currently seeking an On-Call Remote Sensing Specialist with 0-5 years of experience to support environmental consulting projects through the application of remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and field data collection techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with a preference for candidates based in the PST time zone who are willing to travel for site visits and in-person team collaboration as needed. This position is project-based, with ongoing opportunities to support client-driven work. Discussions regarding continued employment with ESA will be conducted at key project milestones. What We're Looking For You are an environmental or geospatial professional with practical experience in applying remote sensing and spatial data to address real-world environmental challenges. You thrive in multidisciplinary teams and are comfortable contributing to fast-paced consulting projects that require both office analysis and fieldwork. You have 0-5 years of experience in relevant academic or professional settings within scientific or environmental consulting environments, with preference for those possessing 2+ years of experience. You hold a Bachelor's degree or a related combination of education and experience in areas such as computer science, geography, or natural resources. You are organized, adaptable, and can manage multiple tasks while collaborating with staff at all levels. You excel in clear communication, follow established protocols, and comfortably represent ESA in client-facing environments. You can effectively work with diverse teams in a collaborative, fast-paced setting. You are capable of managing multiple projects while adapting to changing needs. You can pass federal and state background checks for project-based assignments. As an On-Call Remote Sensing Specialist, your key responsibilities will include: Supporting environmental monitoring and assessment initiatives through remote sensing and geospatial data collection. Assisting in processing and interpreting remotely sensed data (e.g., aerial imagery, satellite data, LiDAR-derived products) to integrate into project workflows. Helping collect field data safely using sampling equipment, GPS units, and other project-specific tools. Collaborating with ESA scientists, planners, GIS analysts, and technologists to deliver quality client reports and deliverables. Participating in data quality control, documentation, and coordination activities. Engaging with clients and contributing to project execution in an external consulting role. Performing other related tasks as required. This position focuses strictly on client-driven environmental work and does not support internal data science initiatives.
