Role Summary: As a Registered Nurse of Maternity Services, you will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and utilize the nursing process to provide high-quality patient-centered care. You will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, ensuring that the patients and their families receive the best support and communication regarding their clinical conditions. Essential Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure in Connecticut. Preferred previous experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). ACLS and NRP certification required upon hire or within one year, with ongoing competency maintenance. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required upon hire or during onboarding. Electric Fetal Monitoring Certification is required within one year of hire. Core Competencies: Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Basic computer skills. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive assessments of maternal and newborn care needs, factoring in psychosocial, physical, educational, cultural, and spiritual dimensions. Utilize pain management techniques and ensure effective communication with patients and families regarding pain management strategies. Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized care plans based on continuous assessment and patient response. Administer medications safely following the five medication rights, documenting all processes accurately. Provide care during various stages including Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Well Newborn, and Level II Newborn in a safe environment. Document nursing processes, interactions, and responses to care promptly and accurately. Demonstrate organization, flexibility, and critical thinking in high-stress situations. Develop educational plans for patients and families and assess learning effectiveness. Model professional practice and support the development of fellow nurses. Maintain fetal monitoring competencies through ongoing education and workshops. Identify and address early signs of newborn transition challenges.
